Traffic / Drug Law Violations - Friday, February 23, 2018

SUBJECT:      TRAFFIC / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – TODD A. SCOTT

 

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Todd A. Scott, 25, of 120 Rose Lane, Labadieville, La, on charges following a Thursday evening high speed pursuit originating in Plattenville, LA.

An Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Deputy was outside of his patrol unit at a local business when a car passed near him emitting a strong odor of marijuana.  The violator turned onto LA 308 southbound with the deputy in pursuit.  The violator eventually stopped, but fled on foot.  The suspect identified as Todd A. Scott was captured after a brief foot pursuit.

Deputies located a jar of marijuana nearby and Scott acknowledged that it was his.

A K-9 unit was called and conducted an open-air search of the suspect’s vehicle and alerted to the interior.  There, deputies seized drug paraphernalia as well as other substances that will be tested by the crime lab.

Scott was arrested, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

            *Resisting an Officer

            *Aggravated Flight from an Officer

            *Passing in a no Passing Zone

            *Obstruction of Justice

            *Possession of Marijuana

            *Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Scott was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
