Identity Theft/Crimes Against the Elderly or Disabled - Wednesday, February 21, 2018

NAPOLEONVILLE Ė Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Roger Andrew Thibodeaux, 30, of 1610 Coteau Road, New Iberia, LA, on charges related to identify theft and financial crimes against the disabled and elderly in connection with a 2015 case.

In January of 2015, Sheriffís Detectives opened an investigation after receiving a complaint from an elderly couple who believed a close relative was stealing from them.

Detectives obtained evidence which led them to Roger Andrew Thibodeaux and found several thousand dollars of goods had been purchased on a debit card as well as a credit card account opened without the victimís knowledge.

Investigators went to Terrebonne Parish where Thibodeaux was being held on unrelated charges to question him. Thibodeaux acknowledged that he had committed the alleged offenses.

Thibodeaux was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 on charges of:

            *Theft of Assets of a Person Who is Aged or Disabled

            *Identity Theft.

Thibodeaux remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
