Traffic Stop / Drug Law Violations - Friday, February 16, 2018

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Robert Joseph McCarty, 31, of 9 Floyd Court, Houma, LA, on drug law violations following a traffic stop in Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on Thursday evening.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with a burned headlight and conducted a stop of the vehicle.

The driver, Robert Joseph McCarty, exited the vehicle.  Deputies noted a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

After interviewing the driver, a search of the vehicle followed.  A quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized.

McCarty was arrested, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

            *Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

            *Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

            *Burned Headlamp

McCarty was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
