ATTEMPTED MURDER - Friday, February 10, 2017

BERTRANDVILLE Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kovadus Lee Johnson, 25, of 151 Jacobs Street, on charges of attempted murder following a Wednesday afternoon incident.

Deputies responded to a complaint of a man with a gun walking down the street. Once on scene, deputies determined that Johnson was wanted on an unrelated charge of attempted second degree murder. Johnson was arrested on that charge.

That arrest stems from an incident which occurred on Friday, February 3rd on Matthew Street in Bertrandville. Johnson is accused of unleashing a barrage of gunfire into the driver side of a pick-up truck. The occupant was uninjured. That incident stems from a prior dispute between Johnson and another individual.

Investigating deputies determined that Johnson was involved in an argument Tuesday afternoon which resulted in him arming himself with a high-powered rifle.

When deputies caught up with Johnson, he did not have the weapon on his person. It was also determined that Johnson did threaten individuals with that rifle on Tuesday afternoon.

Johnson was transported to the parish jail and booked on charges of:

*Attempted Second Degree Murder

*Aggravated Assault

*Resisting an Officer

He was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
