RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES - Thursday, January 26, 2017

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Calvin Weatherford, Jr., 32, of 932 Bayou Drive, Pierre Part, LA, in connection with two residential burglaries in Pierre Part.

Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Detectives responded to a burglary complaint on Mabile Street on October 27, 2016. It was determined that firearms and money was stolen after forced entry was made to gain access to the home.

Five days later, deputies responded to a residential burglary in progress on Bayou Drive. Responding uniform patrol officers learned that the homeowners returned home to find an unknown male inside of their residence. The homeowner engaged in a brief struggle with the suspect, but the individual was able to break free and he fled the area.

Investigating detectives noted multiple similarities in the two cases. Based upon extended continuing investigations, Weatherford was identified as a suspect in both cases. Sheriff’s deputies applied for and received arrest warrants for Weatherford.

On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, Weatherford turned himself in to answer to the arrest warrants. During questioning, Weatherford admitted to his lone participation in both crimes.

Weatherford was booked on two counts of Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling. He is jailed pending a bond hearing. Weatherford is expected to face a probation violation in connection with a previous felony conviction.
