Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the
arrest of David W. Mire, Sr., age 40, of 131 Velma Street, Morgan City, LA, on
traffic and drug related charges following a vehicle stop by the Sheriff’s
Uniform Patrol Division.
On Friday night, a uniform patrol deputy working the
LA. 662 Bayou L’Ourse area, observed a pick-up truck with altered head lamps
and tail lights and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop. The deputy activated his emergency lights and
immediately noticed the driver throwing objects out of the driver’s side
window. The driver stopped and exited
A second deputy arrived and searched the area and did
find a clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine
and a syringe needle.
A K-9 unit arrived and did an open air sniff of the
area and alerted on the driver’s door. A
subsequent search of the automobile revealed the presence of a white rock like
substance on the seat next to where Mr. Mire was seated.
Mr. Mire was arrested and transported to the parish
jail where he was charged with:
* Improper Display of Head Lights and Tail
* Obstruction of Justice
* Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 3rd
* Possession of Schedule II Narcotics
Mire was booked into
the parish jail pending a bail hearing.
