TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG ARREST - Friday, July 8, 2016

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of James Glasper, 46, of 137 Hwy. 400, Napoleonville, on drug offenses and traffic violations resulting from a traffic stop by the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division Tuesday night.

The Narcotics Division officers were on assignment when they observed an early model Chevrolet Suburban following extremely close to another south bound vehicle on LA. 1 south of Napoleonville.

After approaching the vehicle, officers observed marijuana in plain view.

Narcotics agents requested a K-9 unit. The suspect acted nervously and at one point fled on foot into the cane field but was quickly apprehended.

The K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a subsequent search yielded approximately ½ pound of high grade marijuana and approximately 500 doses of MDMA (Ecstasy)

Glasper was arrested and booked on the following charges:

*Resisting and Officer

*Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA

*Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana

*Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverages in a Vehicle

*Following Too Closely

At the time of this release, bond for Glasper had not been set.
