TO:                  ALL MEDIA OUTLETS
FROM:            SHERIFF LELAND FALCON

SUBJECT:      FRESHMAN ORIENTATION PRESENTATION

                        "DANGERS OF SOCIAL MEDIA”

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Captain Donnie Calamia, addressed the 2019-2020 Freshman Class at Assumption High School regarding the dangers associated with the use of social media.

The Friday morning presentation covered a wide range of topics from sexting, cyber safety to the many dangers of law-enforcement encounters every day.

Sheriff Falcon said the seminars are a valuable tool in the parish school systems.

"The presentations are not only aimed at preventing our children from becoming victims, but also as importantly, we hope to prevent children from unintentionally violating the social media related laws”, Falcon said.

Earlier last week, Captain Calamia addressed the parents of the 2019-2020 Freshman Class to provide an overview as to what Friday’s session would cover.

Sheriff Falcon thanks the 2019-2020 Freshman Class and their parents for their participation, as well as the school system for allowing us the opportunity to address students on this important topic.
