LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Ronald Stephen Riley, Jr., 24, of 5711 West Hall, Slidell, LA, in connection with financial crimes committed at a Labadieville business.

On or about August 28, 2018, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint at the business involving the use of banking information and the identity of the business in furtherance of criminal activity.

Detectives initiated an investigation and determined that a suspect produced counterfeit checks using the business information, then submitted those checks to banking institutions, thus obtaining cash by illegal means.

That investigation identified Ronald Stephen Riley as a suspect.

Following the complex investigation, warrants were issued for his arrest in February of 2019.

Riley was captured in St. Tammany Parish on July 23, 2019.  He was transported to Assumption Parish and booked on counts of:

            *Monetary Instrument Abuse

            *Bank Fraud

            *Felony Identity Theft

Ronald Stephen Riley remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
