Drug Law Violations - Monday, July 1, 2019

NAPOLEONVILLE – Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Joseph Herbert Gilchrist, Jr., 26 of 111 Elaine Street, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on drug law violations near Napoleonville, LA.


Late Friday night, deputies observed a bicycle riding on the roadway with no lighting.  After stopping the bicycle, the deputy interviewed the operator who was identified as Joseph Herbert Gilchrist.  During the interview process, the deputy noted Gilchrist to be somewhat restless and his hands were constantly moving around. Prior to completing the interview, the deputy located a quantity of meth-amphetamine nearby as well as drug paraphernalia which was attributed to Gilchrist.


Gilchrist was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:


            *Unlighted Bicycle on Roadway

            *Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

            *Possession of Meth-Amphetamine

            *Obstruction of Justice


Gilchrist was incarcerated and his bond is set at $20,000.
