Warrant for Felony Child Cruelty - Friday, June 28, 2019

                        MEGHANN REBEKAH SCARBROUGH


BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Meghann Rebekah Scarbrough, 31, of 127 Highway 663, Bayou L’Ourse, LA, on felony charges related to an incident which occurred on June the 8, 2019.


Deputies responded to a complaint on that morning relative to Scarbrough walking alongside the roadway with a baby in her arms and was in possession of a large kitchen knife which she was flailing through the air.


Deputies located Scarbrough with the child and the knife.  Deputies were able to convince Scarbrough to calm down and talk to them.  At some point, deputies were able to retrieve the child without injury and took Scarbrough into custody.


As a result of Scarbrough’s actions, deputies transported her to a local medical facility at which time a doctor filed a physician’s emergency commitment for treatment.


Deputies applied for and received warrants charging Scarbrough on counts of:


            *Cruelty to a Juvenile with Force or Violence

            *Disturbing the Peace

            *Aggravated Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

            *Resisting an Officer


Scarbrough was arrested on the aforementioned charges on Thursday, June 27, 2019.  She was booked and incarcerated pending a bond proceeding.


The child is question was place in a special care setting and was not seriously injured.
