Fugitive Warrant / Second Degree Murder / Drug Law Violations - Friday, June 28, 2019

                        VIOLATIONS – DANZELL WASHINGTON



BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Danzell Washington, 27, of 443 Fredrick Drive, Thibodaux, LA, on a fugitive warrant for second degree murder and numerous drug law violations.


Late Tuesday afternoon, Thibodaux Police detectives and agents from Assumption Parish combined efforts to execute a warrant charging Danzell Washington in connection with a May 25, 2019 fatal shooting which occurred on Midland Drive in Thibodaux.


Thibodaux detectives initiated an extensive investigation immediately following the incident which remains ongoing today.  The shooting incident claimed the life of a 22-year-old Thibodaux man.


As a result of the lengthy investigation, multiple suspects were identified, including Danzell Washington.


Law enforcement officers from several agencies developed information that Danzell Washington was in the Labadieville area.  Agents located Washington on Tuesday afternoon and attempted to arrest him.  Washington fled by automobile but was quickly apprehended near Labadieville.  As a result of Tuesday’s activity, agents seized a variety of illegal narcotics attributed to Danzell Washington.


Danzell Washington was arrested and transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:


            *Fugitive Warrant (City of Thibodaux, 2nd Degree Murder)

            *Possession of Xanax

            *Possession of Suboxone

            *Possession of Hydrocodone

            *Possession of Oxycodone

            *Possession of Cocaine

            *Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute

            *Possession of Marijuana


Danzell Washington remains incarcerated in Assumption Parish awaiting a bail hearing on the drug charges.  Washington will be transported to Lafourche Parish on the second-degree murder charge once the Assumption charges are satisfied.


On May 28th, law-enforcement agents from Assumption Parish and Thibodaux Police arrested John Washington, 27, of 117 Violet Street, Labadieville, LA, in connection with the same case.  John Washington was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on a fugitive warrant for second degree murder.  John Washington was then transferred to Lafourche Parish and booked into that jurisdiction for one count of Second-Degree Murder.  The Thibodaux Police investigation continues.
