Dorseyville Park Shooting Incident Third Suspect - Thursday, June 27, 2019

                        THIRD SUSPECT:  SHONTUN JOSEPH

 

 

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Shontun Joseph, 17, of 160A Freetown Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on charges related to a June 13, 2019 shooting incident at Dorseyville Park.

 

Joseph’s arrest is the third tied to the incident.  Detectives previously arrested Dequan Stewart, 18, of 6113 Highway 308, Paincourtville, LA and Gregory Washington, 18, of 106 Myles Street, Paincourtville, LA, on felony charges.

 

Stewart and Shontun Joseph allegedly fired weapons during the incident.  Although no one was hit by the gunfire, Stewart repeatedly struck an individual in the head with the gun causing injuries to him.  The victim reported to a local medical facility for treatment at which time the Sheriff’s Office was notified.

 

Gregory Washington allegedly drove himself, Stewart and Joseph from the scene.

 

Investigating detectives seized cocaine from Washington’s home a short time later while executing a search warrant at his home.

 

Shontun Joseph was arrested on Wednesday and booked on counts of:

           

            *Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

            *Illegal Use of Weapons

 

Joseph remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
