Drug Law Violations - Friday, June 7, 2019

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Robert C. Meads, 69, of 3005 Highway 308, Labadieville, LA, on charges related to a burglary investigation which began on February 6, 2019.


On that date, deputies responded to a complaint of a burglary at the aforementioned address and spoke to the complainant as well as the alleged victim, Robert C. Meads.  Meads reported the burglary after a neighbor contacted him.


During the initial investigation, deputies examined the alleged crime scene and observed a quantity of suspected crack cocaine.


The substance was seized and ultimately submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis.


On or about May 6, 2019, the crime lab positively identified the substance as crack cocaine.


Deputies applied for and received a warrant charging Meads with possession of cocaine (1 Count)


On Thursday, narcotics agents executed a search warrant at Meads’ home near Labadieville.  As a result of that search warrant, a substantial quantity of crack cocaine was seized.  Meads was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:


            *Outstanding Warrant for Possession of Crack Cocaine Relative to the February 6th Burglary Investigation

            *Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute in Connection with Thursday’s Seizure


Meads remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
