PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the Saturday arrest of Rubin Steven Andrews, 43, of 119 Bertrand Street, Napoleonville, LA, on charges related to a theft and monetary instrument abuse which originated on February 11, 2019.

On or about February 11, 2019, deputies responded to a complaint from a woman near Plattenville who indicated that she had advertised a cellular phone on Facebook and a male subject eventually met with her to consummate the sale.

A few days later, a male subject met with the female subject and he provided her what he purported to be 4 - $100 bills and the male took possession of the phone.

Several days later, the female noticed irregularities with the $100 bills and contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were able to confirm that the bills were in fact counterfeit.

As the investigation continued, deputies identified Rubin Steven Andrews, as well as others, as suspects and filed the relevant charges.

Andrews was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

            *Theft

            *Monetary Instrument Abuse

Andrews’ bond was set at $3,500 and has been released.

Detectives are investigating and additional arrests are possible.
