Traffic Stop / Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon - Friday, May 3, 2019

SUBJECT:      TRAFFIC STOP / POSSESSION OF FIREARM BY A CONVICTED FELON

 

 

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Frank Charles Mayfield, 32, of 612 St. Joseph Street, Napoleonville, LA following a traffic stop late Wednesday night.

 

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of the violator. The officer interviewed the driver, Frank Charles Mayfield, as well as two other passengers.  The vehicle was subsequently searched during which a firearm was discovered under the driver’s seat. 

 

The three occupants of the vehicle were convicted felons and prohibited from possessing a firearm; however, Mayfield admitted to possessing the firearm.  As a result, Mayfield was arrested and taken to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on:

           

            *Possession of Firearm / Carry Concealed Weapon by a Convicted Felon (Felony)

            *Driving on the Roadway Laned for Traffic

            *License Plate Light Required

            *Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License; Other Offense

            *Failure to Appear Warrant

 

Mayfield has a cash bond of $100 for the failure to appear warrant and is awaiting a bond hearing for the remaining charges.
