Collection of Unwanted Prescription Drugs - Wednesday, May 1, 2019

SUBJECT:      COLLECTION OF UNWANTED PRESCRIPTIONS

 

 

NAPOLEONVILLE – On Saturday, April 27, 2019, the Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration manned collection points at La’s La’s Food Store in Labadieville and Pierre Part Store.

 

Households that were in possession of unwanted prescription drugs could deliver those medications, as well as other substances considered over the counter to the collection points. A Total of 21 pounds of medication was turned in. 

 

Medication lock boxes were also provided at no cost.  Bayou Council was on hand to distribute the lock boxes.

 

At Pierre Part Store, the Bayou Council distributed:

            26 Lock boxes

            25 Med Minder Pill Boxes

            15 Brochures

 

At La La’s Food Store in Labadieville, Bayou Council distributed:

            25 Lock boxes

            25 Med Minder Pill Boxes

            25 Brochures

 

The project has been offered 17 times in the last 9 years.

 

It was a "No Questions Asked” project and was deemed a huge success.
