Drug Law Violations - Monday, April 15, 2019

PIERRE PART– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Charles Moak, 34, of 334 A Morgantown Road, Natchez, Mississippi, following a vehicle stop on Sunday afternoon in Pierre Part.


Deputies were notified of a vehicle driving in a careless manner on LA 70, The responding deputy made visual contact with the vehicle and observed the vehicle commit a traffic violation and subsequently proceeded to stop the automobile.


Deputies made contact with the driver identified as Charles Moak.  The subjects Mississippi drivers license was suspended and the officer noted an extensive criminal history relating to drug law violations.


After interviewing Moak, deputies requested permission to search the vehicle which the suspect denied.  A K-9 unit was called to the scene and conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and did alert to the presence of illegal narcotics.


Deputies searched the vehicle and recovered a quantity of illegal narcotics.


Charles Moak was arrested, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center where he was booked on charges of:


            *Possession with Intent to Distribute Xanax (Alprazolam) 1 mg. tablets

            *Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin

            *Possession with Intent to Distribute Xanax (Alprazolam) 2 mg. tablets

            *Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

            *Driving Under Suspension


Charles Moak remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
