Traffic Stop / Drug Law Violations - Tuesday, March 19, 2019

NAPOLEONVILLE Ė Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Michael D. Carter, 28, of 609A St. Joseph Street, Napoleonville, LA, on drug related charges following a traffic stop in Napoleonville early Sunday.

 

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and attempted to stop the vehicle.  At some point, the driver exited and fled on foot.  The deputy pursued the suspect and at some point he was subdued, taken into custody and identified as Michael D. Carter.

 

During the investigation, the deputy noted a strong odor of marijuana emitting from Carterís person.

 

Carter was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center.  During the booking process, deputies seized a quantity of suspected marijuana from Carter.  The suspect was booked on charges of:

           

            *No Driverís License

            *Turning Signals Required

            *Possession of Marijuana (Third or Subsequent Offense)

            *Taking Contraband into a Penal Institution

            *Resisting an Officer

            *Stop Lamps Required

 

Carter remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
