Shooting Incident / Arrest - Wednesday, February 27, 2019

SUBJECT:      SHOOTING INCIDENT / ARREST – MARKESE D. DABNEY

 

 

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Markese D. Dabney, 24, of 211 Cardinal Street, Labadieville, LA, on charges related to a shooting incident on February 16, 2019 near Labadieville.

 

On that date, deputies were dispatched to a local hospital in connection with someone being treated in the emergency room for a gunshot wound to a hand.

 

Detectives responded and commenced an investigation.  The victim was interviewed and provided relevant details concerning the incident.

 

Based on evidence and circumstances, detectives applied for an arrest warrant for Dabney.

 

Detectives were also granted a search warrant for Dabney’s home.

 

Detectives executed both warrants on Tuesday.  The firearm believed to have been used was recovered.  Dabney was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

           

            *Attempted Second Degree Murder

 

            *Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

 

 

Dabney remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

 

The shooting resulted from an ongoing feud between Dabney and the victim.
