TO:                  ALL MEDIA OUTLETS

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon is pleased to announce the graduation of 57 students from the DA.R.E. Program at Pierre Part Elementary School on Friday afternoon.

The essay winners are as follows:

            First Place – Baylee Guillory

            Second Place – Emma Lilly

            Third Place – Joshua Templet

Elizabeth Guillot was selected as the "D.A.R.E. Student of the Year”.

This year’s guest speaker was Pierre Part 5th grader Elizabeth "Lizzy” Guillot.

Lizzy wrote a bio of being a daughter of an addict.  Her story documented the effects of mental illness, drug addiction and death of close family members resulting from drug abuse and / or mental illness.

Lizzy’s message was powerful and had an emotional effect on all in attendance.

Lizzy plays the piano and enjoys singing.  After her bio presentation, Lizzy dedicated a song entitled "Hallelujah” to all persons struggling with mental illness and addiction, those who have succumbed to addiction, and in memory of her Aunt Amy LeBlanc.

Sheriff Falcon congratulates all students who completed the D.A.R.E. Program, the faculty of Pierre Part Elementary and all parents who made the program possible.
