Drug Law Violations / "Operation Summer Heat" - Tuesday, January 15, 2019

SUBJECT:      DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS / "OPERATION SUMMER HEAT”

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Michael J. Lewis, 24, of 212 Daggs Street, Belle Rose, LA, on drug related charges relating to "Operation Summer Heat” which produced numerous drug arrests in early to mid-2018.

"Operation Summer Heat” was a parish wide law-enforcement operation targeting drug dealers in Assumption Parish.

As a result of that investigation, agents charged Lewis with distribution of cocaine.  He remained at large until his arrest in Ascension Parish recently.

Lewis was transferred to Assumption Parish on Thursday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

            *Distribution of Cocaine

            *Probation / Parole Violation

Lewis had previously been convicted of monetary instrument abuse and obstruction of justice thus resulting in the present probation / parole violation.

Lewis remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
