Traffic Stop/Gun Law Violations - Monday, January 7, 2019

SUBJECT:      TRAFFIC STOP / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS – JOHN PAUL WASHINGTON

 

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of John Paul Washington, 26, of 117 Violet Street, Labadieville, LA, following a Saturday afternoon traffic stop.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle speeding near Labadieville and attempted a traffic stop.

The suspect did not stop and continued to drive until he got to his home.

Deputies pursued the vehicle and when Washington stopped, deputies immediately detained him.  Deputies interviewed Washington and at some point, he acknowledged that there was a handgun in the vehicle.  Deputies determined that Washington was previously convicted of a felony. 

Washington was arrested, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

            *Speeding

            *Flight from an Officer

            *Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License

            *Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Washington remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
