On Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a business on LA 308 near Napoleonville in reference to fraudulent payroll checks being cashed by multiple Hispanic individuals who fraudulently represented themselves as workers of a local business.

Through extensive investigation, detectives learned that multiple counterfeit payroll checks were cashed by the group of male subjects at several local businesses in Assumption Parish.

Deputies located Bryan Espinoza and placed him under arrest.

Through continued investigation, detectives communicated with the Jackson County Interdiction Team in the area of Moss Point, Mississippi and members of that agency stopped a green Chevrolet Traverse traveling eastbound on I-10.

Assumption Detectives proceeded to Mississippi in continuance of the investigation.

As a result, Cesar R. Funes and Jose Vasquez were taken into custody and found to be in possession of a portion of the cash stolen during the fraudulent conduct.

Bryan Espinoza is being held without bond.

Jose Vasquez and Cesar Fumes are being held in lieu of $750,000.00 bonds
