Bayou L'Ourse Burglary Investigation - Friday, November 30, 2018

DATE:             FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2018
TO:                  ALL MEDIA OUTLETS

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Lucien Aucoin, 57, of 155 Felicia Street and Nicholas Massoletti, 33, of 173 Felicia Street, both of Bayou L’Ourse, LA, in connection with an ongoing burglary investigation.

On November 28, 2018, Sheriff’s detectives conducted a warrant check for Lucien Aucoin at 173 Felicia Street and at the time did encounter Nicholas Massoletti.  At the time detectives appeared, Massoletti exited a shed on the property and appeared to be acting very nervous.

Agents and deputies had previously spoken to Massoletti on November 26, 2018.  At that time, Massoletti said that Aucoin had been on the property but was not there at the time. Massoletti was informed of the consequences of harboring a fugitive.

On November 28, 2018, investigators returned to the property and again spoke to Massoletti near the same shed. At some point, the shed doors opened and Aucoin fled to a wooded area and temporarily eluded police.

Detectives did determine that there was a large amount of firearms in the shed.

Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by some detection equipment from Bayou L’Ourse Fire Department, did capture Lucien Aucoin a short time later.

Aucoin was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

            *Simple Burglary (3 Counts)

*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

            *Resisting an Officer

Nicholas Massoletti was arrested and charged with:

*Accessory after the Fact to Simple Burglary

Sheriff’s detectives had previously arrested Danny Willis, 33 and James Aucoin, 35, both of 155 Felicia Street, Bayou L’Ourse, LA and Curtis Gaudet, 45, of 2211 Lake Palourde Road, Morgan City LA, in connection with the same case.

Gaudet previously posted bail.  The other four suspects remain incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
